JOT97 Enhanced 32-Bit Editor
Shareware for Windows 95
Copyright (c) 1995-97 Spaeder Technologies Inc.

FEATURES:
Jot97 is the hands-down 32-bit successor to Windows 95's Notepad. With a
one megabyte file capacity, full-featured spell checking, variable color
schemes, long filename recognition, auto-loading of a dedicated text file,
preservation of location and dimensions between sessions, time and date
stamps, find and replace options, right-mouse popup menu, timed backups,
launch minimized capability, and printing in Windows fonts, Jot97 takes
your text and HTML editing to the highest possible level!

INSTALLATION:
Essential Jot97 Files:

JOT97.EXE - The main executable file for Jot97
JOT97.HLP - The Jot97 help file
JOT97.TXT - Default Jot97 text file, can load automatically when Jot97 launches
JOT97.VAL - Required validation file used to determine registration status
ENGLISH.DCT - Dictionary file used by Jot97's spell checker
README.TXT - This text file with installation and registration instructions
REGISTER.HLP - Windows help file with registration information & options

For MANUAL installation, unzip if necessary the Jot97 archive and copy the
essential Jot97 files to a single directory reserved for the program, e.g.,
C:\UTILS\JOT97. Jot97 is launched by running JOT97.EXE or its shortcut.
A shortcut to Jot97 should be placed on your Windows 95 Start Menu.

For AUTOMATED installation (if available) unzip if necessary the Jot97 archive
and double click on the executable setup file (usually SETUP.EXE or INSTALL.EXE),
which copies the Jot97 files to a directory of your choice and creates a start menu
item for Jot97. When re-installing Jot97, always start by deleting existing copies
of the Jot97 files from the installation directory.

CD-ROM Installation:
Because CD-ROM disks are read-only and Jot97 writes information to its home
directory, you cannot run Jot97 directly from a CD-ROM. Instead, you should
copy the Jot97 files to your hard drive and remove the read-only attributes of
all uncompressed Jot97 files. Use Windows 95 Explorer to remove the read-only
attribute on a file by selecting the file, right-clicking on it and selecting Properties.
Then uncheck the Read-Only box in the properties dialog.

REGISTRATION - $28:
Jot97 is shareware and is distributed "as is". Unregistered users
receive 50 evaluation launches before being asked to register. Upon
registration and payment of a $28 fee, a registration code is provided
by email or US mail. When the code is input to Jot97, the reminder
screen is disabled and the user is entitled to 90 days of technical support.
Since you always receive the distribution version of our shareware when
you download it, we do not send a software disk when you register.
